Every package includes a company safety manual customized to your work and your worksites. It comes with the core forms and an implementation guide, and your company holds it under licence.

What the manual covers.

Each chapter is written around the work you do. The core forms come with it: hazard assessment / FLHA, toolbox talk record, incident report, inspection checklist and orientation record. Your company owns its own content in the manual and every record it creates with the forms.

How It Is Written

Four stages from intake to orientation.

  1. Learn Your Operation

We start with your intake questionnaire, then talk through the work itself: the tasks, equipment and sites.

  2. Write the Draft

We write the manual around your own procedures and the words your crew already uses.

  3. Review It with Your Crew

Your supervisors and workers read the draft and mark it up. We fix what they flag before the manual is final.

  4. Put It to Work

You decide where the manual lives: a binder at each site, or Google Drive, Microsoft 365 or SiteDocs. Your package includes one orientation session.

The manual is a tool to support your compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements. It does not guarantee compliance. Your company stays responsible for its own legal obligations and for running the program day to day. A manual on a shelf protects no one.

Who It Is For

Who the manual is written for.

The manual is for small and medium employers in British Columbia, including forestry, construction, remote and coastal operations, and Indigenous-community employers.

Indigenous-Community Employers

Employers in Indigenous communities across British Columbia, with a manual written for the work they do.

Construction and Forestry Contractors

Crews bidding on work where the prime contractor asks for a written safety program or prequalification documents.

Remote and Coastal Operations

Employers with crews on remote or coastal sites. Every program includes an emergency procedures page posted at each site.

Common Questions

Questions about the manual, answered plainly.

What does the manual cost?

The manual is part of every package, so we quote it with the package. We quote package work at a fixed price after the intake questionnaire, based on the risk in your work, the number of workers and the state of your existing program. No prices appear on this site.

If you plan to apply to a funding program, only the funder can say whether our fees are an eligible cost. Your fee is owed whether or not an application is approved. See the Funding page for how that works.

Who owns the manual?

The manual is licensed, not sold. Your company holds a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it at your own worksites. The licence covers your own workers, and your direct subcontractors while they are on your sites. Reasonable internal copies are allowed. We keep the templates, structure and wording the manual is built from.

Your company owns its own content in the manual and every record it creates with the forms. If the licence ever ends, your records stay with you. You may show the manual to WorkSafeBC officers and other regulators, and to COR or SAFE Companies auditors. Prime contractors or owners may see it when they review you for prequalification or site access.

Regulatory updates, revisions and annual reviews are separate paid services. We offer an annual review.

Is this the same as COR certification?

No. COR is WorkSafeBC’s Certificate of Recognition, and the auditor and the certifying body decide certification. A manual your company runs day to day supports that effort.

The Certification-Ready package adds a safety program wellness check for that work. You get a gap analysis against COR or SAFE Companies, a written deficiency report and a prioritized action list. Read how COR and SAFE Companies fit.

We already have a safety manual. Where do we start?

Say so on the intake questionnaire. The safety program wellness check in the Certification-Ready package measures your current program against COR or SAFE Companies. You get a written deficiency report and a prioritized action list.

How long does it take?

It depends on the size of your operation and how quickly your team can review the draft. Once the manual is in place, the implementation guide sets out what to do in week one and in months two and three.

Where do you offer this?

We are based in Bella Coola and offer our services to employers across British Columbia. The manual is written to support compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements.

Not sure what your company needs? The questionnaire settles the recommendation.

Start with the Intake Questionnaire

It takes about ten minutes, and blanks are fine. We come back with a recommended package and a fixed-price quote, and there is no obligation.
